How do I optimize Matomo for high-traffic websites?
For high-traffic sites, set up browser archiving via cron (instead of real-time archiving), use a dedicated database server with SSD storage, enable the QueuedTracking plugin to buffer tracking requests, and configure data purging to remove old raw data.
For very large installations (millions of visits/month), consider a multi-server setup with separate web and database servers, or use Matomo with a load balancer. Openmost provides managed hosting specifically optimized for high-traffic Matomo instances.
