Can Matomo track file downloads automatically?
Yes. Matomo automatically tracks clicks on links pointing to files with common extensions (PDF, ZIP, DOC, XLS, etc.). These appear under Behaviour > Downloads in your reports.
You can customize which file extensions are tracked by modifying the setDownloadExtensions configuration. If you use Matomo Tag Manager, file download tracking is enabled by default in the Matomo tag.
