How is a visit defined in Matomo?

A visit in Matomo starts when a user lands on your website and ends after 30 minutes of inactivity (configurable). All page views and actions during that window count as one visit.

A unique visitor is identified by a first-party cookie (or a fingerprint hash in cookieless mode). If a visitor comes back the next day, it counts as a new visit but the same unique visitor.
