Are the segments retroactive?

Segment management is different depending on your Matomo installation. If you have an OnPremise offering, segments can either be calculated in real time or pre-processed by the automatic archiving CRON. In Matomo’s Cloud offering, the segments are necessarily pre-processed.

Segments set to “real time” are automatically retroactive.
Segments set to “pre-processed” are not retroactive.

To make a pre-processed segment retroactive, you must invalidate the reports and restart the archiving CRON over the desired period.
