Are the segments retroactive?
Yes, segments in Matomo are retroactive. When you create a new segment, it is applied to all your historical data, not just future visits. You can immediately see past data filtered by your new segment.
Processing old data for a new segment may take time on large instances. Matomo archives segment data progressively, so complex segments on large datasets may need a few archiving cycles to complete.
