Why does my Matomo report show “keyword not defined”?
Search engines (Google, Bing) encrypt search queries with HTTPS, so the keywords visitors used to find your site are hidden. Matomo shows “keyword not defined” for these encrypted searches.
To recover some keyword data, connect your Google Search Console to Matomo via the SearchEngineKeywordsPerformance plugin. This provides keyword impressions, clicks, and positions (though not linked to individual visitors).
